Performance
This is a sturdy motor with plenty of power from a KohlerXTX engine. That power filters down to the high-grip wheels, helping them handle all types of mowing conditions, including on damp to outright wet grass. The all-wheel drive traction means uneven terrain and tough mowing conditions are no big deal. Ease of Use
Sure, it would be nice to have push-button starting, but the Jonsered L4621 reliably starts up on the first pull thanks to an easy-start auto-choke system, and it’s easy to assemble. Get it out of the box, adjust your cutting height, add some oil and gas, and go to work.
But before you do that job, remember that you can adjust the handle to suit your height; you can experiment with the speed of the mower and select what pace you want through variable speed controls; and the quick height adjustment for nine cutting heights allows for mowing in lots of different conditions. You can even adjust the cutting height on the fly with the ease of an ergonomic handle. I should add that the soft-grip handle won’t callous up your hands or tire them out.
If you choose to bag, notice how the bag-through handle fits between the handlebars for super-simple removal. In addition, the collector handle on the bag provides a great grip when you turn it over to empty the clippings. As part of the bag, a “dust blocker bag” will prevent small particles from reaching your nose and making you sneeze every other minute. The nicely balanced bag is easy to empty, by the way, thanks to a wide opening.
When you’re finished for the day, fold over the handles and store this mower in a tight space of your choosing. The convenient handles also make transportation easier if you need to move the mower from A to B in your car or truck. However, if you just need to move the mower somewhere within your premises, the handle in front will allow you to easily lift up the mower and do that.
Cut Quality & Options
The L4621 has an amazing nine cutting-height adjustments to choose from, so you have lots of options during the season as conditions change. No matter what cutting height you select, the L4621 delivers a precise cut every time out, thanks to a high-tunnel cutting-deck design. Whether you’re bagging, mulching, or sending out grass via the mower’s discharge, you’ll appreciate the close-trim ability of this mower. The large rear wheels adeptly charge through the thickest of grass and weeds, and they’re great when you need to tilt the mower back from time to time. The wheels in general provide great maneuverability and seem durable.
The noticeably slim front portion of this mower makes it ideal for cutting along edges while leaving behind no uncut wheel tracks. If you choose to mulch, put on the mulch plug and watch how that, in combination with the blade, will shred grass to fine fertilizer. Rear discharge offers faster and more efficient mowing if that’s your thing.
Maintenance
There is a water-hose connection on the Jonsered L4621, which makes it much easier to clean the cutting deck, thus improving the cutting results and keeping the mower in excellent condition for days on end.

Note: Like lots of lawn mower owner manuals these days, this one has instructions that are written for numerous models, which some may find confusing. It’s understandable, given that some models with a choke are described, while some without a choke are also included. In addition, the manufacturer says oil changes aren’t needed, whereas it’s recommended in the manual to change it once a year or after every 25 hours of operation. Would be nice to get some clarity here.
